O Som Do Jazz
OSDJ blog

Feliz Ano Novo!

We are visiting family in Rio de Janeiro and enjoying the pool ( it is very hot here!).  On Saturday we heard the king of sambalanço - Orlandivo at the Cariocando club in Lapa. It was quite a show!

Have a wonderful New Years Eve!

getting better!

festivals abroad

With the economy collapsing in Florida, it is getting very difficult to find performances here.  If you can recommend festivals abroad that might have interest in O Som Do Jazz, please write us with contact information.

Thanks!

caipirinhas!

Well... it's going up to 100 F today, here in Florida.

It's time to break out the cachaca and make some caipirinhas!

summertime blues

Well... it is summer and all of the performances seem to have evaporated in Florida.  Now is a good time to complete our second recording project of originals.

New Tunes?

We keep adding new tunes to our repertoire.  Right now I am arranging Piano na Manguira by Tom Jobim and Dig This Samba by Manfredo Fest.

What songs would you like us to add to our list?

Curtis Ross (Tampa Tribune), had this to say about "Infinita Bossa" in the March 26 newspaper - "Supple, sophisticated sounds from a local outfit well-versed in Brazil's wonderfully diverse music. Take a listen to the lively “Berimbau” and be hooked immediately."

Tampa Tribune

The Friday, March 26 Tampa Tribune will include O Som Do Jazz' release "Infinita Bossa" in its local music feature. The CD was recorded to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of Bossa Nova.

SPC Jazz Festival

O Som Do Jazz enjoyed performing on the first SPC Jazz Festival. It was great to have the full 7-piece band together again with Alfredo on guitar.  Songs include Garota de Ipanema, So tinha de ser com voce, Upa Neguinho, Summer Samba, Noa Noa, Berimbau, Consolacao & Pontieo.

Our next concert is FREE!  We perform on Saturday, March 14 from 1-3 PM at the Kenwood Art in the Park event.

First Night was great!

O Som Do Jazz had a great time at First Night St. Petersburg!  The event was managed perfectly by Pat Mason and Allen Lloyd.  The venue's sound engineer (Frank) was very attentive and gave us the best outdoor concert mix that we have ever had!

To all who came out and heard us at the Plaza Courtyard - THANKS!!!

OSDJ on jazz festival
